How do RFID keychains work?

When an RFID keychain approaches a reader:

The reader emits a radio frequency signal.

The chip inside the keychain is activated.

The chip sends its stored ID number to the reader.

The system verifies the identity and performs the corresponding operation (such as opening the door, checking in, etc.).
